ABOUT US

We see every project as a creative puzzle waiting to be solved.

At Waka Seattle, we believe video storytelling should do more than just look good – it should connect, inspire and make an impact. Every project is its own creative puzzle, and we approach each one with curiosity, strategy, and care – whether we’re crafting a documentary style piece for a nonprofit, or translating complex ideas into a crisp, engaging brand video.

We’re based in Seattle but we’ll go wherever the story takes us. And no matter the challenge, we’re always up for finding new ways to put the pieces together and tell stories that matter.

If you’re ready to get started, so are we. Let’s create something great together.

The word Waka means different things to different people. What does it spark for you – maybe Fozzie Bear’s signature catchphrase? Or the beat of a World Cup anthem sung by a famously hip-shaking Colombian? Maybe a nod to a well-known rapper? Or possibly the sound of a pixelated icon avoiding ghosts and gobbling up dots?

For us, Waka means fun. It’s playful, memorable, and full of energy – just like the stories we love to tell. Some other definitions we’ve discovered: waka is a Japanese word for an ancient form of poetry, predating haiku. It also means “ablaze” in Swahili. And that’s what we aim to be: ablaze with creativity, grounded in craft, and always ready to tell stories that ignite connection and stick with you.

MEET SCOTT MORRIS

Hi, I’m Scott Morris — the Creative Director at Waka Seattle.

I’m a documentary filmmaker, storyteller, and strategist who’s passionate about creating videos that spark connection, inspire action, and leave a lasting impact. Waka Seattle was built to combine big-agency creative thinking with the agility and personal care of a smaller studio.

My work has won awards for documentary and commercial filmmaking, I was named one of the inaugural Husky 100 at the University of Washington, and I’ve been fortunate to partner with incredible clients across the nonprofit, education, startup, and commercial sectors.

Every project at Waka Seattle starts with a simple belief: stories matter. They have the power to move people — and to move the world. I’m grateful to lead a trusted network of collaborators — talented cinematographers, editors, motion designers, and strategists — and together, we’re committed to helping you share your story with the authenticity and creativity it deserves.
